Sequels
|
One Morning in Maine was published in 1952. This story still has Sal as a main character, but also adds Jane as Sal's younger sister.
While the characters are not named Jane or Sal, Time of Wonder, could also be considered a sequel. It has two young girls similar to Jane and Sal vacationing in Maine and experiencing a hurricane. |
Other Significant Information
|
There was a period between 2005 and 2009 when the rights to publish Blueberries for Sal were up for debate. The McCloskey Family wanted to reclaim the rights while the Viking Children's Books wanted to keep them. Because of this, the book was unable to be sold since technically no one had the rights to sell it. After years of negotiations, Viking was able to retain the rights and sent Blueberries for Sal back into print in 2009 (Sellers).
